ABOUT US

The Housing Crisis Center (HCC) opened its doors in 1978 as the Dallas Tenants' Association, dedicated to educating the public in the area of housing rights.  Since then, HCC has grown to provide not only pro-bono legal services for our neighbors in Dallas County, but also short- and long-term transitional shelter as well as permanent supportive housing and emergency financial assistance.  HCC is truly about homeless prevention and re-housing those who are currently experiencing homelessness.

The mission of HCC is:

To prevent homelessness and to stabilize families, the elderly, and the disabled, in decent, affordable, and permanent housing, and to empower these groups to solve their own housing problems in the future.

WHO WE SERVE & WHAT WE DO

Each year, over 11,000 individuals are supported by the Housing Crisis Center - and on any given night, over 140 households are sheltered in HCC supportive housing.  Ours is an agency focused on preventing homelessness and many of our clients are working, but struggling to make ends meet.  We provide services to them from legal help to employment assistance to housing to child care.  Our goal is to move individuals and families from dependency - from tettering on the edge of homelessness - to knowing they will be safe from the streets for many months, years to come.

THANK YOU!

Thank you to the Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation for funding $25,000 towards HCC's Permanent Housing Services!  This incredibly generous gift will allow HCC to continue housing and providing intensive case management for 30 Dallas residents--helping to break the vicious cycle of poverty.
